CLEAR THE SHELTERS

August 1 through 31 | All pet adoptions are $10, which includes all fees, spay/neuter services, and vaccinations.

This August, Arlington Animal Services is partnering with NBCUniversal Local’s 12th pet adoption and donation campaign: Clear the Shelters. From August 1 to 31, the Arlington Public Library Southeast Branch will host a rotating display of our VIP pets. Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped 1.3 million pets find new homes, and has raised over $5.5 million for participating shelters and rescues! We are proud of contributing to this cause, and excited to get more pets adopted this year.

ADOPTION PROCESS

The Arlington Animal Services Center (ASC) adoption program is open to anyone wishing to adopt a pet. The adoption process is simple.

  • Visit the ASC or view available animals online at 24Petconnect website.
  • Select an adoptable pet.
  • Complete the Pre-Adoption & Sterilization Agreement in person to have the selected pet scheduled for the next available spay/neuter appointment, unless already altered.
  • Pick up the pet post-surgery between 4:30-6 p.m. on day of surgery

The adoption fee is $100 for a dog and $90 for a cat, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, appropriate testing (Heartworm or Cat Combo) and city license for Arlington residents.

An adoptable animal may be designated as a Very Important Pet (VIP) with a $10 adoption fee for various reasons, such as: Length of time in shelter, available space in shelter, senior pet over eight (8) years of age, has a treatable medical condition, has behavioral or special needs, or another reason as determined by a supervisor or manager. The reduced fee is to help the animal find their forever home. The VIP adoption fee also includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, appropriate testing, and a city license for Arlington residents.

Visit the ASC in person with a valid form of identification to meet available adoptable animals. Adoption of animals is on a first come, first serve basis. If interested in an animal that is in the Foster Care Program, please submit an interest card in person.
